culture in crisis
A digital collage depicting the cultural decline, both in social and built form, especially in my homeland, Bangladesh. The youth from the village dream to leave their household to ‘earn big’ in bigger city, especially the capital, Dhaka. The sparkles and glamour of the city lures them, to abandon their home and to create new identity; only to make them just another city dweller. In the meantime, the city wants to be consideded as ‘flourishing’ to the international community by embracing foreign built form. Glass towers, not native to the climatic context of Bangladesh at all, stands tall in the urban fabric, only to amplify the division between rich and poor.
